3.x-4.x bad blocks detection bug?

This goes after i detected 4 bad-blocks on my brand new 450G(3 days!),i’ve tried to :

• Format Nand->NetInstall RouterOS 3.3->Detected 4 Bad Blocks Persist
• Without Format Nand->NetInstall RouterOS 3.3->Detected 4 Bad Blocks Persist
• Format Nand->NetInstall RouterOS 4.8->Detected 4 Bad Blocks Persist
• Without Format Nand->NetInstall RouterOS 4.8->Detected 4 Bad Blocks Persist
• Format Nand->NetInstall RouterOS 4.9->Detected 4 Bad Blocks Persist
• Without Format Nand->NetInstall RouterOS 4.9->Detected 4 Bad Blocks Persist

Sample 4.9 Output :

uptime: 36s
version: "4.9"
free-memory: 246160kB
total-memory: 257356kB
cpu: "MIPS 24K V7.4"
cpu-count: 1
cpu-frequency: 680MHz
cpu-load: 2
free-hdd-space: 482072kB
total-hdd-space: 520192kB
write-sect-since-reboot: 406
write-sect-total: 4466
bad-blocks: 4
architecture-name: "mipsbe"
board-name: "RB450G"
platform: "MikroTik"

Those is what i’ve done to narrow down near good solution to reduce bad blocks,why i said it’s a bug between 3.x-4.x RouterOS?,because it come differently on 5.0beta2,it’s really 0!

uptime: 41s
version: "5.0beta2"
free-memory: 245212kB
total-memory: 256760kB
cpu: "MIPS 24Kc V7.4"
cpu-count: 1
cpu-frequency: 680MHz
cpu-load: 15
free-hdd-space: 485876kB
total-hdd-space: 520192kB
write-sect-since-reboot: 0
write-sect-total: 4692
bad-blocks: 0
architecture-name: "mipsbe"
board-name: "RB450G"
platform: "MikroTik"

I don’t know if Bad-Block detection/management already completed on 5.0beta2,but this bad block really quite irritated me as in my places it’s really hard to find stable electricity output and constant electricity blackout overtime :frowning:,i just don’t want for long term i need to invest another one.

You shouldn’t worry about those 4 bad blocks. However i have noticed that bug on ROS5.0beta 1 and 2 on my RB750G too. The bad block counter goes to 0 without netinstall and there’s another thing that i’ve noticed : write-sect-total counter doesn’t increase also. Waiting for an official comment on this.

Best regards

even 99 bad blocks doesn’t affect anything in your RB450 (or any other RB). RouterOS is smart enough to ignore them, and that is such a small number of data that you won’t feel difference in storage also .

roger that comrade :slight_smile:
