Is it possible to assign a pool of public IPs to a set of internal mac authed hotspot users?
Both dynamically and statically? < or force a public IP onto a specific MAC address?
My setup is as follows RB750GL (contains ISP PPPoe details and so on) - > RB493G in DHCP mode on WAN , Ethernet 2 is running
a hotspot service with a dedicated DHCP pool of 172.25.xxx.xxx/16
MAC authenticated devices (routers, CPEs, etc) assigned a profile outside of the default hotspot1* profile to manage QUOS and assign speed/bandwidth profiles. Now as I am aware, my RB493g assigns an IP twice to hotspot user, once to the device and then from a temporary pool as show under /ip hotspot host print …
Question. Can I statically bypass and reserve a “to-address” to a specific MAC address and assign a single ISP assigned public IP directly to it? or do this under ARP?
Next question : can I force the hotspot1 server to use a pool / range of Public IPs provided to my by my ISP? Giving each user their own, dynamic public IP?
Sorry for the nag, but I’m still new to Mikrotik and a little wet behind the ears, so any examples and or ‘commands/code’ will really make my day ![]()
