35 km link issues

Hi all. I got a 35 km clear LOS link since last december. Since 2 weeks ago it has started to hover from a steady -70 on both sides (from Dec- till October) to either -80 and disconnecting , or -62 on both sides during the course of the day. The fluctuations are tremendous.

Nothing has changed in the setup. 2 R5H and 5 ghz feeders on 1.2 cm sat dishes…
Any ideas why this is happening? Could it be the change in season / humidity etc?

try to monitor the signal.

If the signal is changing a lot but during all the day, it could be humidity.. but I think not like this.

If the signal changes in seconds to -70 to -80 or -62, it’s possible that you have some other radios there fuc**** your signal.

Did you tried to change the channel?

The signal does not change within seconds, i am sure of that. It changes through the course of the day. I tried changing channels and its the same situation more or less.

The link is overwater? Or over what?

it is over land, with no obstructions at all. I am on higher ground and with very clear LOS

Do your connectors are good isolated with tape ?
Do it is possible to have water in them ?
If it is possible change RF cable and feeder.

It will raise your wireless knowledge and why you having such behaviour.
Read it all.

Along with already mentioned,
Dish(s) alignment are they secure and cannot move,
Interference, freznel zone clearance,

@medianet: I did read the topic, it is indeed very very useful, i have no obstructions at all though and very clear freshnel.
@defekt: connectors are not isolated, will do. no water, checked. will change cable and feeder just in case.
@ n21 roadie: the dish is firmly bolted, but i see a little bit of “play” on the mounting tube… will try to stabilize it more. Freshnel is clear like i said. How do i check for interference?

I will post some photos and screenshots so that you guys can help me because i see there is a lot of knowledge here! Thanks again

These are the details of the link.

This is easily checked and eliminated as possible cause by monitoring levels as you press on the dish.

… How do i check for interference?

Once you have eliminated all of the other suggestions: radio card, lead, etc.,
Interference can only be checked with a spectrum analyser which you may be able to hire for test, also with frequency usage in winbox it only shows compliant 802.1.. equipment and will not show the propriety wireless stuff that could be used on the same band? The analyser will show full spectrum .
