Hi,
I am still relatively new to MikroTik but have become a huge fan. I am trying to find out how I can connect a USB modem, preferably 4G, to a RB750UP. I am new to this concept since I have always used AT&T/Verizon provided modems in the past. I would prefer to have a modem that can connect to Verizon LTE or AT&T which would allow me to send and receive SMS and preferably allow remote access. As I understand it I may need to setup a VPN for remote access.
The closest I have found is the Sierra Wireless/Netgear AirCard 320U but it seems to be difficult to find now and I couldn’t tell if I needed an unlocked version or if it would do what I need.
Any help/advice is appreciated.
If you put in the 4G modem restart the routerboard
See you after startup a LTE interface?
I do not currently have a USB modem since I am trying to determine what will work in the United States. I am trying to find a USB modem that will allow to send and receive SMS and would like to be able to remotely access my Mikrotik using it
If no one knows what USB modem would be best in the USA can anyone tell me what the most popular choices are?
Sierra Wireless (now Netgear) gave common USB modems (320, 330U).

LTE interface doesn’t work yet, but they are defiantly usable with MikroTik, not sure about SMS.
I have been looking at the 320U but I can’t seem to find it, probably due to the Netgear buyout. I see a lot of them on eBay claiming to be unlocked but I don’t know if I can trust them. Once I find it I will probably end up going that route unless someone else has a different recommendation. I would really like to use SMS though and this has been the hardest to confirm.
The ones n eBay are legit I believe. People in Australia buy them quite often from eBay and they are unlocked.
SMS does work through the Watcher software and other routers, not sure about RouterOS though.
I appreciate the input. I found one on eBay that claims to work in the USA with AT&T. I have yet to see anything stating SMS will work so I may have to come up with another solution. As long as I can get 3G speeds I will be all set for now.
No worries and thanks for the karma!
You can get around 12-14mbps with the 320U currently.
