3g Connection resets aftert a few hours

Hi guys,

I have a routerboard RB951Ui-2nD. I have setup a 3g connection PPP successfully, however every few hours the connection drops, and doesn’t come alive again until I reset the router, or I have found if I login in to winbox and edit something in the ppp windows and save the connection comes on again. This happens whether I have devices connected or not.

I have tried to use the dial on demand option but it doesn’t make a difference. Is there something I can do to make the connection come alive once it has dropped and is needed again?

If you don’t mind restarting the router occasionally, I would suggest using the watchdog feature. Set it to ping an address such as 8.8.8.8 and the timeout to about 15 minutes, then if the connection drops the router will reboot and regain the connection.

If the 3G is not your default route, set a static /32 route to an address through the lte interface and use that as the watchdog destination.
