Does the same apply to mini pcie-e 3g modems as to mini pci wireless radio cards - that an antenna has to be connected when the device is powered on, otherwise it may damage the radio? Or can I use the pci-e 3g modem in RB411U without antenna connected to ufl? Thanks.

Because 3g usb dongles and mobile phones do not need external antennas to operate, but I understand that a mini pci-e modem is just a radio transmitter that does not have all-inclusive features, and that it must be used with an antenna. Thanks.

I woul like to use the RB indoors. Can I just use a simple 3dbi wifi antenna and connect it to the 3g mini pci-e? I haven’t anywhere seen freq. specs of those small antennas and I don’t know if I should search for a 3dbi omni 900mhz antenna.
I am asking such questions, because I tested the hardware with a 3dbi omni and a 8dbi omni. Each time there was the same signal strenght visible, as if antenna gain would not matter.

With the new Delock gsm/umts sma omni there is an improvement of 4dBm to 8dBm in signal strength depending on the carrier. This confirms that even small omni’s can make a difference. Thanks.
