And used “New terminal” (on the left)
in my browser to do this:
And thats as far as I got.
I know absolutely nothing about RB and Mikrotik.
So please let me know what I need to do to get this thing connected and routing.
And once thats up, how can I send/recv USSD commands and responses?
I’ve also got a Huawei E220, which I’ll try out.
But I need the Alpha Onyx because the E220 doesn’t work on 900mhz where I’m gonna be getting most of my bandwidth.
Thanks I’ll check that out a bit later.
Is there some kind of guide that explains what everything is etc?
A crash course on the RouterOS? Maybe a video?
If not maybe you guys should consider making one. The best technical videos are where the presenter speaks quickly and runs through stuff quickly.
The person watching can always pause and go back and repeat things or look up what they need more detail on.
I noticed there are lots of ins and outs, src and dsts, and bridges, interfaces, servers and clients.
Its all way beyond the complexity of setting up a normal router. (for consumers)
Which is good, I’m learning RouterOS because of the power it provides.
I just need to find out how everything works and how to use it.
blackhole?**
I find the Mikrotik documentation lacking in explanations.
It could be improved if a similar style to wikipedia is adopted whereby keywords like that are highlighted, and when you click them it explains what they are.
For example if you read this wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MikroTik many of the important keywords are linked and explained. such as “virtual private network” “quality of service” and so on. (I am already familiar with these technologies, just giving an example)
Thanks for your response, I’ll try your suggestion later and make thorough notes.
Those manuals are not really for beginners, we will make a better manual.
You don’t need to make serial-terminal connection. Simply make a new PPP connection as descrbed within that article, and specify the APN that your provider gave you, that’s it.
