I upgraded one of my Test AP’s that I was having NV2 related issues with from 4.13 to 4.15. This AP has three wireless interfaces, one is a WDS backhaul, one is a 2.4 AP that was running 802.11 mode and one was a 900Mhz AP running NV2. This setup was working with 4.13 in that configuration with no major issues besides some occasional NV2 oddities.
After I upgraded this AP to 4.15 with the NV2 package the 2.4Ghz clients some of which aren’t Mikrotik based were no longer able to pass data and were having a difficult time associating with the 2.4 AP interface in 802.11 mode. At the same time the 900 Mhz clients who were associated with the 900 Mhz NV2 wireless interface were very very slow. I then enabled the standard wireless package instead of the NV2 package and all the 2.4 clients came back and work as expected. Any ideas what could have changed in-between 4.13 NV2 and 4.15 NV2 that could have caused this? I would really like to run this AP with the 900 Mhz AP interface in NV2 and the 2.4 AP interface in 802.11. I may just roll this back to 4.13 to run it that way I guess, but 4.13 had some strange NV2 Issues of its own.
Is the NV2 package in 802.11 mode not going to be compatible with the non NV2 wireless package or non MT devices?
That is correct. I was running the 900 AP in NV2 and the 2.4 in 802.11. The 802.11 clients were not able to pass any data and were having a difficult time registering with the 2.4 AP. The 900 clients were registering ok but access to them was very very slow. This could have been caused by the 2.4 clients constantly trying to re-register though. As I mentioned in my original post not all of the 2.4 clients were capable of NV2 that is why the 2.4 interface was in 802.11 mode instead of NV2.
I can send you an supout of the same AP with the standard wireless package installed instead of the NV2 wireless package if it would be of any help to you. It is working fine with the standard 4.15 wireless package.
I do not see NV2 as an option anywhere in 4.15, did they put it somewhere else? I am used to the 5.0 versions where it is on the Wireless Tab, however I have looked everywhere on the 4.15 versions and do not see NV2..
I installed the combined package (http), I thought that includes all? Is there a “separate” package I need to install for NV2? There is nothing that notes that on the Mikrotik website…
I got an email from Uldis on my email ticket and it seems like there is some confusion on the ticket, he asked that I manually set the distance setting for the 2.4 interface. If I am not mistaken in the first supout file it should have been set to dynamic which is what it was also set at when I was running the 4.13 NV2 package that was working correctly on the 2.4 AP with the same settings. I have never had much luck in the past manually setting the ack timeout.
“Edit” I just reinstalled the NV2 package and manually set the distance on the 802.11 2.4 AP interface and while the clients were able to register the latency to those clients was very high and variable. Anywhere from 50ms up to timeouts.
