40 Mhz Width on Metal 2SHPn

I am trying to improve my effective throughput on my WLAN. I have experimented with TX-Powers to get the best possible signal level without overwhelming the equipment and I appear to top out at a negotiated rate of H20-7 or ~ 65mbps. With an effective rate of ~30mbps. With H40-7 I should be able to get 150mbps with 50-70mbps effective rate, but according to wireless info the Atheros board does not support a 40Mhz-Turbo width? Is there a workaround or is this a hard limitation on the device?

I have 20/40-Above width specified, and none of my devices come in on the 40Mhz width. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have found out that to many specs 40 Mhz widths are not viable in 2.4Ghz devices. However, I read that using the extension and control channels can provide the bandwidth, however it may cause undesirable operation due to overlapping with other carriers. My metal 2.4ghz is used primarily for an ap-bridge inside a large home with a 15db gain antenna. I have been able to obtain around 20-30mbps on a device reliably by only allowing MCS6 and 7 on 20Mhz width.

So I have two questions. If I use 20/40-Above on Channel 6, will I see capable devices connect with a HT40 MCS profile or will I see HT20 MCS profile. If it’s completely unsupported I would love some clarification and feedback.

40HT and turbo are two different things. Turbo is for legacy devices and is not compatible with 40HT on any radio not only 2SHPn.

I found that out. Now HT40 is this an indicator that the extension channel is being used? I am struggling to get >30mbps throughput on the device.
