I would like to use an RB behind an ADSL (24mbs/1mbps asychronus) connection as internet router for my LAN and 1-2 clients to connect wireless. Which RB should I pick between these two or any other that you can suggest. Is a 411A enough? it will just connect pppoe over an adsl modem and do some bandwidth management, moreover I will use a vpn connection sometimes.
The 1-2 wireless clients will connect at 2.4Ghz.
I would appreciate any suggestions, I need a solution that will not cost too much like RB600,333 etc.
Yeah, but doesn’t the 411A still just have 1x Ether and 1x mini-pci slot? If that’s not a bloody useless replacement for the 133, I don’t know what is. No chance to use ADSL (via Ethernet) on the WAN and still have a hard-wired PC + wireless clients as ela002 is asking for with the 411A.
The 433 is a different form factor from the 133. It doesn’t fit in our ourdoor cases, and it uses that terrible “triple-shot” mini-pci connector.
The Rb133 and Rb433 have same hole locations and width. The connectors are also in the same place, so the case should be compatible, unless you have a very short outdoor case.
Correct me if I wrong but whilst this will certainly work, there’s surely no way to stop any other PC connected to that switch from making his own pppoe connection via that modem? If he did, how on earth would you detect it?
