411UAHR modified usb power injector

I have a 411UAHR and haven’t been able to get a usb power injector for it.
So I scavenge my archives and come up with a 5v dc adaptor and a male to female usb cable.
I’ve cut and joined what I think I should (green to green and white to white, both for data; red to red to red for +5v and black to black to black for grnd).
Question: does the male end (that goes into the 411) of the male to female usb cable require power as well or just data? i.e Does the injector supply power to the usb device only or to the usb port on the 411 as well?

you have to supply power only to remote device.
