Has anyone tried rb433ah + emp-8603 cards - any opinions
i have that configuration in my sistem.
Works superb and have great range. Have conected my laptop to the ap at more than 6 km with ligne of sight
Your laptop must be equipped with some highly classified wireless gear! You connected your laptop to an AP 6km away? Please enlighten us.
Yes with ligne of sight. My laptop is a dell e4300 with a internal wireless card nothing more. But by ap have an omni of 19dbi
I really doubt it.
i can show anyone who wants. More exactly i was checking in google earth distance and i get 6.05 km. you can doubt but is true
You can set up any AP you want, with the biggest amplifier or biggest antenna, but your laptop will still have a weak wireless card with small antenna and bad windows drivers. I have never seen any laptop that can connect more than 500m
Ok. im not an expert on this. what i can say is that i can conect at those distance and get internet conection and all working. i can assure you that just because i tested.
Regards
I think that there is another AP nearby, and you don’t know about it ![]()
no because i still can read and i know protection for my network.
Excuse me for interrupting, but in what country is an 800mw transmitter connected to a 19 db antenna legal?
in none. i just said i can conect i never said i leave it working:) was just testing purposes
I don’t know where you are, and, please, don’t tell me!!
In the U.S. they will fine you severely for that. The FCC does not care if you are “just testing”.
and do you have a post or link on the 19dbi omni you are talking about as i have never seen or heard on an omni with that king of output
And this makes it legal how? Because someone sells it? It is YOUR responsibility as the owner ( in the U.S., this is under “deep pocket tort” law) to insure YOUR equipment is legal under U.S. laws. It matters not who operates the equipment.
thats true people must obay the law tust intrsted to see what is avalable as in sa we have 12dbi limit
with 450mw
but that is changing next year so it may be legal in some places but thats up to the owner
to make shore hes equipment is legal ![]()
they are called slotted wave antenna, and in fact it’s acting as two sectors…or one, however you want to make it, or buy it.
Thanks for the replies,

I must admit i had a similar experience with my laptop using the built in card, connecting to AP on 2.4 which i have not checked the distance but it’s a least 15+Kms away, I was on highest point away from this access point so i can only assume that i was in the prime focus area of the AP antenna’s and maybe they are misaligned and not focused onto the lower foreground ? - Oh forgot to mention that AP is one run by my opposition. ![]()
