433AH + XR5 + 3' dish - bandwidth uneven

Hi all,

I’m having an interesting problem that I don’t understand.

The setup: 433AH + XR5 + 3ft. dish on each side. PTP nstreme.
Distance ~ 5 miles
Everything looks great - signal, s/n, CCQ.

The problem is with bandwidth. The tests i do with two routers (493AH & x86 1Ghz) attached to the radios.

TX: udp or tcp ~ 24 Mbps (CPU limited, i believe (433AH running @ 100%))
RX: udp ~ 44 Mbps - TCP ~ 8 Mbps!!!

I don’t understand why this happens. MTU on all interfaces (routers & radios) are at 1500. Should i try 1480 on wireless interfaces? Could that be it?
I have NO errors on any interface either. NO ques either. Conntrack is off on both radios.

Thanks for your help.

post more info about the config of the wlans please

If your CCQ stays at 100%/100% on both sides while you are doing your TCP tests then we can safely rule out a link issue.

I would then look at perhaps doing a bandwidth test using devices other than the units themselves.

Also, post more about your config and settings.

I will put command and screenshots (further down).

This is one of them:

The links are basically the same. One is running bridge (WDS+nstreme) and the other is in station wds + nstreme.
I think i put all the info now. Let me know if there is anything else that i should post.
Thanks.

The speeds I reported are from devices other than the radios.

Here are the screenshots.

This is off of “station WDS” radio.

Anyone has any idea???

decrease tx-power on both sides, to obtain -60 / -64dbm.

regards

I had the boards in the office and put the pigtails close to each other (the signals being the same ~ -45-50, with ~ 50db S/N) and ran bandwidth tests and the results for the TCP RX were ~ 35 Mbps.

I will try setting the signals lower to see if RX TCP transfers improve. I will post results later in the day.
Thanks.

Signals adjusted to -60 to -65, signal to noise now went to about 30db, BUT no change in bandwidth. It’s still maxing at 8 Mbps.
