493G Bricked

Hello everyone! This is my first post and unfortunately is a problem.

I was using a RB493G as my home router/ap and it was fast and reliable until I decided to update the the bootloader.
After that I rebooted the router and it never worked again.
I tried to use netinstall but the only thing I can see using a serial cable is this letter: ÿ
Ethernet ports do not initialize and green and blue leds are always on.


Im gessing I lost my bootloader… is that possible… also is it fixable?

make sure you set the console connection to the correct settings:
115200bit/s, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, flow control=none by default.

what it boot and see what happens.

my 493G has failed 5 times in total, each time with a Kernel panic (even if i wasn’t upgrading)

since about 5.16 and its firmware version, it hasn’t happened again..
