Hello all,
I am a little fuzzy about the ethernet ports and switch chips on the 493g. It seems the only interfaces I can pass traffic on are ether2 and ether6 (the first port on each switch chip as far as I can tell). All the settings are default except for the addresses ip addresses I’ve set on various interfaces. I running rOS 4.16.
Can I use all of the interfaces individually?
Thanks!
Yes, all RB493G ethernet interfaces can be used as standalone ports. What exactly is not working with all interfaces except ether2 and ether6? Are speed/act LEDs glowing?
Ok, I figured you could use them as separate interfaces, so it must be something I’m doing wrong.
Here’s what I did:
Add address 10.13.2.100/24 to ether2
ping 10.13.2.1 (existing router on my network, not Mtik), got replies.
Add address 10.13.3.1/24 to ether3
ping 10.13.3.254 (a ubiquity radio configured with that address and default gw of 10.13.3.1), no replies
Moved address 10.13.3.1 to ether6 and plugged ubiquity radio into it, pinged, got replies.
What I noticed was that ether2 and ether3 can be configured on the same switch chip. ether6 can be configured on the other switch chip. I do not wish to use the switching feature. What settings are necessary to use each interface individually?
Thanks!
