Any body have any ideas on this. It has been driving me nuts.
My whole system slows down to a crawl mainly at 6pm-9pm where most users are on.
I am using less bandwidth at this time just more connections. it does not matter how much bandwidth I add it still runs slow.
I have found that remote backup and quickbooks backup slows things down but it is hard to track.
I have swapped out my main internet gateway router to make sure I have quality ethernet cards and enough cpu.
Currently running core 2 duo 2.8 1gb ram. v 3.17 os x86. I am running upload queues to make sure the outgoing bandwidth does not over load the circuit the slower upload part of the 7mb/768kb dsl circuit. When I run a speed test, my upload is great but my downloads run around 100kb-500kb and the test lags for a long time and it is jumpy. The utilitazion of the circuits is about 1.5mb out of 7mb each and they all seem to have close to the same load, within 500kb. I am not running load balancing but I have mangle rules setup so I can route a subnet of uses out a certain dsl connection.
I have 5 7mb/768kb adsl circuits and 1 t1 plugged into a 11 port power router.
2 ports goto my main 2 wireless backhauls
Each backhaul runs slow and each circuit runs within 500kb of each other when I am having the problem. When things are fine I get 6mb downloads. I normally see about 8-12mb load for download and 1mb for upload. When I am running slow I see 4-7mb downloads and same uploads. cpu is running from 5-20%
the adsl are from 2 different providers.
Any ideas at all would be great.
