532a reboots when ubiquiti radio is enabled

I have already built three of these with this equipment so I know it works, but i’ve hit two boards so far that i’m having trouble with. I’m using a 532a and a ubiquiti xr5 radio. If I try to scan with the radio it spontaneously reboots. If I try to enable the interface it starts rebooting and keeps on rebooting and I have only about five seconds to log in and do a /system reset. I’ve upgraded to the lastest packages and firmware and no help there. I’ve tried the XR5 in the bottom and top slot and it makes no difference.

When it reboots it prints this “jan/01/2000 00:00:12 system, error, critical router rebooted without proper shutdown, probably power outage”

I can scan and enable with the SR4, but the SR9 creates the same reboot problem.

Don’t know if it matters, but I’m powering it by an AC adapter at 48 volts.

Obviously some incompatibility, but why on these boards with these radios. I have three of these already up and running.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also, I’m very new to mikrotik, so if you need me to do something to get some diagnostic information, please assume that I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about and dumb it down for me.

Thanks

Marty

reboots with xr2 also.

Good chance that this is a PSU issue. What voltage is the AC adapter actually supplying with and without the radiocard?

Andrew

I have encountered this on occasion also.

What seems to fix this is the following:

Boot up the board with a prism based radio card, and enable the interface.
Next power down the board and replace with the atheros based card, every thing should be fine.

Post back to indicate if this resolved your problem.

Man, I feel stupid. It was the power converter. It was supposed to be 48v, but it was only putting out 18v. I powered it with a POE power converter and it worked fine.

Thanks for your help, Gentlemen.
