5GHZ bands. A,B or C in the UK?

Dear Mikrotik users.

I’m a hotspot provider in London and I received some requests from people that wants to use my wireless internet services but they live a bit far from the areas of my coverage.
I’m thinking of buying some 5GHZ antennas and add them on my already existing network (I have few Routerboards on the roof of some buildings) to connect customers not coveraded by my hotspot.
Does anyone knows which bands WISPs are allowed to operate in the UK? Which ones are supported by Mikrotik? And which ones are allowed and unlicensed for outdoor use?

Thanks and will really appreciate your help.

Band C for fixed point to point links to clients or inter-building.
Go to Ofcom’s website http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomms/ifi/licensing/classes/rlans/5.8_fwa_index/, sign up for a light licence (£50) and start punching in some locations. Although you will have to wait until next week as the portal is down for maintenance at the moment. :frowning:

The link above should be able to answer all your questions. If not, get back to me.

(I am frequently in London)

Ron.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your reply.
I will now proceed with the registration on the ofcom’s website.
