5GHz connection drops

I have a RB921GS-5HPacD r2 on v6.46 with a 19dbi Sector

Client radios is combinations of SXTsq Lite5 and LHG 5 etc with v6.44 up to v6.46.1

Signal strengths is as follow as from the Registration table, each line is a clients Tx/Rx Signal

-64/-48
-70/-54
-62/-48
-62/-49
-50/-47
-57/-49
-66/-51
-59/-46
-57/-43

I run a mac pint to one of the clients and do not have any mac ping drops. I at the same time from my main router also run a IP ping to 2 or 3 of the clients with 1 or 2 packet drops every now and again. The MAC pings is around 8ms.

At the same time I am logged into the RB921 with Winbox, and 2 of the client radios. The connection between the RB921 on my computer stays open but the connection to the client radios drop.
Under the registration table the client radios do not drop and the online time of all the clients are all the same showing that the client radios are not loosing connection to the rb921.

Clients experience whatsapp call drops on their internal network and also loosing connection during gaming like fortnite.

Any ideas.

I have changed freq, I have set power down on the rb921.

Client distances from the sector is between 300m and 5km

From all indications it sounds like you are pursuing radio issues when disconnection problem lies elsewhere than your radios.

Or I could be wrong. What is CCQ for those connections? Tree interference and signal reflections can cause bad reception even though signal levels stay high. Though usually this shows up as slow speed and not disconnection.

CCQ’s is between 50 and 80

Open LOS, no trees. It is close to the ocean the area, about 3 to 5 km from the ocean. In a valley

My guess is that if you set up a CPE on your own property close to your AP, you would see same connection issues. All indications here point to something other than your radios.

After replacing a network cable at on the AirFiber 3 towers before this tower. This behaviour stopped. Still do not make sense as the pings did not show that the problem was as that tower. We picked it up on the ether port’s connection drops.

Truly strange. Assuming you were running no off-tower services such as Radius or remote logging through that tower.
