Now I can see a lot of marketing of 5Ghz special cables and pigtails, that doubles the price of standard coaxial cables.
I always have used HDF-400 NM-NM cables in the same way: 6 meter for base station and 1 meter NM-NM in CPE.
Do you think that the named 5Ghz cables are a good investment?
It depends on how well the HDF400 cables are being made. at 5Ghz the cable becomes much more critical and bad crimp joints can cause a LOT of loss. But we’ve made 400 type cable around here for years with no problem. If you use crimp connectors make sure the crimp ring is not crimped too far back on the cable in such a way that it deforms the cable. So if it’s been working, don’t fix it.
