600 overheating

I have been using the Gateworks 2348-4 with 4 radios (8602) for our AP’s and doing our backhauls and the 2347 for the clients. We have been using this setup for the past 3 years with no problems. The only problem with this setup is the cost of the boards and cases.

I have been talking with Tasos at Titanwireless and he sent me a 600A with an outdoor kit and 4 R5H radios. The 600 works fine until I close the door on the outdoor case. In about an hour it locks up. I am trying to find a thermometer to see what the temp. is inside the box.

Has anyone else had any problems with this setup?

TIA

Hi Desoto,

Yes it used to be common. It was fixed with a bios and firmware update. Have you updated yours ?

The only thing that I have updated was the OS from 2.9 to 3.23. I will check and see if I can find instructions on how to upgrade the rest.

Thanks for your reply.

Have a great day.

Open up a new terminal from Winbox and type ‘sy ro u’ (short for system routerboard upgrade). Answer ‘y’ for yes and you are upgrading the firmware from the current running RouterOS image.

That should fix your overheating problem.

Tom

Thanks. We will see what it does.

Have a great day.

Ok. I did the upgrade. When I am in /system/package it shows 3.23. When I am in /system/routerboard it shows 2.19. Is this what it should show?

TIA

Hi Desoto,

Yes that is correct and is what I run on my RB600’s

Thanks and have a great day.
