Hello, could someone tell me why these are disappearing or are reaching the end of their useful life? Will there be any cheap replacements/successors?
It seems that MT decided that 60GHz devices are best suited for PtP and PtMP installations ... which current portfolio of 60GHz Cubes covers.
If you'd like to get any info about future devices (e.g. replacement for wAP 60G) ... then you should ask MT directly ... but beware that they are notoriously secret about future products right up until they are ready to ship (and even that sometimes hides surprises as it's in the case of hAP be³ Media which was supposed to be shipping a while ago but is actually starting to be shipped right now).
The Qualcomm chip that they use is inferior to other vendors out there, such as the Peraso chip used in Ubiquiti Wave and Tachyon's 300 series.
As suggested, what's left is the Cubes, which work fine. Personally, I need the ability to put in more than 8 subs per AP and use the full band, and for the range covered, the Tachyon gear is a perfect replacement.
Now, if MikroTik released a Peraso-based solution running RouterOS, that would be amazing.
