Hi!
i recently updated to OS 5.6 and after i did this the router worked fine for about a day.
After this i lost connection to the internet (router didn’t give me an IP) but could still acess the router via winbox if i set a static IP.
So i started looking around, and when i looked at the DHCP service i got an error message that told me to contact support.
Had no time to fix it at that time because i had to go away from home for a while and now when i got back i cant even connect to the router via winbox and static IP anymore.
All help appreciated
The netinstall detects the router and i can complete the installation process (have tried both 5.6 and old 4.17) with the same result.
After the router reboots and i reset my IP configuration to dynamic i still dont recieve an IP adress, and i still cant use a static IP to connect via winbox.
Have you tried to connect via MAC address? Does that work?
When you used NetInstall, did you make sure that “keep configuration” isn’t checked so that the router’s setting were rewritten?
How do you mean connect via MAC adress?
and yes i did not keep the old config.
When you start Winbox click the […] button. Does your router show in that list? If yes, click on its MAC address in the list to connect at layer 2.
If all of that still doesn’t help contact your reseller and discuss an RMA.
Yes that worked i can contact the router with winbox now thanks.
Now that i got back in with winbox i remembered what the error message was before, it said something like dhcp error create supout.rif file and contact support.
Well anyways i dont get that message anymore but all the DHCP settings seems wiped, and i have no clue as how to set them up.
Shouldnt the DHCP settings have reverted back to factory default after a factory reset?
Yes. Try resetting the configuration via the layer 2 winbox connection again and take it from there.
Awesome help thanks man its up and running again ![]()
