How do I go about upgrading a model 750GL that is running v5.14 and upgrade it to 6.42.9 without loosing the configuration and having to reconfigure it? The autoupgrade and packages do not show anything to download and upgrade. I assume I will need to upgrade in steps to several versions before getting to 6.42.9. What would the upgrade path be to get to 5.14 to 6.42.9?
- Backup your configuration using /export file=routername-yyyymmdd and download the rsc file it generates.
Then upgrade RouterOS to 5.26
Upgrade RouterBoot (/system routerboard upgrade)
Then upgrade RouterOS to any 6.xx.
Upgrade RouterBoot again.
Is backing up a precaution or will the upgrade to 5.26 reset the device to factory? I do not see a step to restore the configuration.
When you say to upgrade the routerboot do I just do the following: /system routerboard upgrade
It does not reset, it’s a precaution.
Yes, upgrade the boot loader with the command “/system routerboard upgrade” and answer y to the question, it will reboot.
