but after upgrade to 3.24, there’s neither 8-digit SoftID nor ‘Update Lisense’ button anymore:

Starting with v4.0beta3 RouterOS now includes
support for these 802.11n cards, that is unlocked by
updating your RouterOS license with the new 8
digit SoftID.
Sounds like 8 digit SoftID’s are not supported in V3.

Since RouterOS 3.24 and 4.0beta4 new SoftID format is introduced
=)
Maybe they wanted to say 3.25 and beta3, because beta4 still not there 
Anyway - System - License interface changed between 3.22 and 3.24… I’ll try v4…
UPD:
v4.0beta3 shows 8-digit SoftID… =)
ONLY v4.0beta3 will show this button right now
