802.11g - good news and bad

OK, I found an 802.11g PCMCIA card with external connectors. The Proxim b/g combo cards have a MC connector for a pigtail. They are running the Atheros A5212 chipset. My problem is that I am only getting about 8 Mbps throughtput. I am only allowing G devices to associate but still it is not as fast as it should be. I choose 2.4 Ghz - G in the Band option. I don’t understand why my throughput sucks. Any help?

Thanks,

Steve

what is the distance ? is it indoors ?

Yes, it is outdoors. The radios are all within 100 yards of the main radio and none of them get any better than 8 Mbps.
