I am having problems with my Samsung TVs when I switch the 5GHz WLAN to 802.11r (security.ft=yes, security.ft-over-ds=yes) .
Can i run 802.11r on the master interface, but not on the virtual AP? I know that ft and security.ft are security settings, but there are settings such as the frequency, which always comes from the associated master interface on the virtual AP.
br, Richard
If the virtual interface is using different security settings (without FT), it won’t enable 802.11r.
I think you can check this by using a more advanced Wifi scanner.
I have capsman setup at home and with some client installations.
I always foresee some sort of IoT SSID with only WPA2 and no FT-settings.
Physical parameters (like frequency and channel width) are indeed taken over from master interface, security settings are separate per master/slave interface.
Usually those IoT devices (like a TV) don’t move around that often so roaming is mostly of no use anyhow ![]()
