Hi all,
Before buying, I need to confirm that 802.11u / Hotspot 2.0 Interworking
actually works on two of the new Wi-Fi 7 boxes, because I'm building a
Passpoint deployment (carrier Wi-Fi offload) that depends on it. The plan
follows MikroTik's "Interworking for WiFi6" guide: /interface/wifi/interworking
with hotspot20=yes, NAI realms, roaming OIs, venue info, EAP-TLS, plus a
RadSecProxy container and CAPsMAN 2.
Here's my concern, now that the product pages list the driver packages. The
Interworking for WiFi6 page and the new CAPsMAN docs are written for the
wifi-qcom family, but the two devices use different drivers:
- hAP be³ Media (MA53UG+HbeH): runs wifi-qcom-be (Qualcomm IPQ-5322 / QCM-8083
/ QXM-8086 radios). Same Qualcomm family as the docs, so I expect it works,
but the doc is written against wifi-qcom (WiFi 6), not wifi-qcom-be (WiFi 7). - hAP be lite (A42G-HbeP): runs wifi-mediatek (MediaTek MT7991 radio). This is
a separate driver package that the interworking and CAPsMAN docs don't
mention at all.
Questions (please state your RouterOS version):

wifi-qcom-be (hAP be³ Media): Is /interface/wifi/interworking fully
functional on this driver, i.e. does it not only accept a profile but
actually transmit the Interworking element and answer ANQP queries over
the air? Has anyone confirmed a Passpoint client associating through it? -
wifi-mediatek (hAP be lite): Does /interface/wifi/interworking even exist
on this driver, and if so does it actually emit the Interworking/ANQP
elements over the air, or does the menu take the config while nothing is
transmitted? This is the one I most need confirmed. -
Does CAPsMAN 2 interworking provisioning work the same on wifi-mediatek as
on the wifi-qcom drivers?
The critical thing is over-the-air behavior, not just whether the menu accepts
the config, since a menu that takes the settings but never transmits ANQP would
look fine in WinBox and fail in the field. If anyone has a be lite (or any
wifi-mediatek device) and can run the interworking config and/or sniff the
beacons/ANQP, that would settle it.
