900MHz

ALL:

Are there any products out for mikrotik that will allow use of this spectrum? I know Ubiquiti was touting a 900MHz miniPCI card, has anyone used this, or has it been released yet?

Basically I’m looking for some decent 900MHz gear, frequency hopping would be a plus due to the noisy nature of the 900 band. If anyone could recommend good equipment I’m all ears. I’m not necessarily looking for the Motorola Canopy / Trango lines.. I’m looking for something thats non-proprietary, based on open standards..

Any and all comments appreciated!

Right now, about the only thing that would fit are 2.4->900 down converters. If you really wanted it to frequency hop, you could probably dig up some old 2Mbit 802.11 (not a b or g) cards.

I wouldn’t recomend it though. I would just wait for the SR9s.

Do you know if the SR9’s will support FHSS? or if they are going to be DSSS?

Judging from the spec sheet being based off of the 802.11 specs, I’d assume it to be DSSS.

i already have two of the SR9’s on pre-order for dev, time will tell on who adds support for them. but i am pretty sure mikrotik will be close to adding support soon after they are available and have had time to test them out.

wildbill442, which group are you with in sac? calwisp?

Nope, actually that’s the first I have head of Cal-Wisp. I’m with a new company called Zeta Broadband, LLC who recently bought the assests of Fastkat Wireless, Inc. You may or may not have heard of Fastkat, who was formily based in Roseville, CA.

I took a look at your website, are you planning to be a mikrotik distributor for sacramento? Give me a shout off list, we’re always looking for reliable, and accountable distributors for wireless hardware. Having someone local would be a huge plus - bill(at)zetabroadband(dot)com.
