Hello guys, I have my 951G-2HnD router set-up almost stock. I created an AP for my wireless devices at home keeping all the default settings, but I did add a WPA2 security profile so random people can’t log on. My problem is that over wifi, I can’t get download speeds of greater than about 30 mbps. It averages around 20 though. This is even with the wireless devices in the same room and signal 100%.
As soon I hook up an Ethernet cable to my microtik, I get my full internet speed, around 50-60 Mbps. ( advertised as 50, but goes past it ) I don’t have any restrictions on my router set up to slow down speed. All chains are selected, Default AP Tx Rate and the client one are both “0” so no restrictions there.
What could be causing the wifi to be slower? With my wireless G and N routers before this one, I got the full speed also over wireless.
It’s not just the cell phone. 3 different laptops and a PC all in the same room with wireless N all don’t even get close to the advertised speed. This is with signal that is maxed out. I can take screenshots later on today.
I also made sure to test it by having only 1 device on at a time to make sure no other wifi devices are taking from the bandwidth. I don’t know what else it could be, other than to deal with it as is.
