I confirm that the 951g-2hnd is not able to carry more than 300-400 Mbps on 1Gbps link. In this case: which Mikrotik router do you recommend to fully use 1Gbps?
Check official test results, available for all devices. While absolute numbers don’t quite resemble reality, they still show relative speed of devices. If one device is twice as fast in test, it will be approximately twice as fast in reality as well.
If you’re extremely lucky. More likely hEX S won’t go any faster than 400Mbps when routing/firewalling/NATing while hAP ac²/RB450Gx4 will actually get pretty close to 1Gbps in same scenario. (According to official test results, hEX S is some 50% faster than RB951G and if realistic results for RB951G are around 300Mbps, then around 400Mbps is what you can get with hEX S).
hAP ac² and hEX S come with same suggested price. hAP ac² has wifi and hEX S has SFP port. You are free not to use either if you don’t need them (you can just disable wireless), in this case choice between the two of them is no-brainer. If you actually need either wireless or SFP port, then there isn’t much of a choice.
BTW, if you fancy hEX S but don’t need SFP port, then you can go with RB750Gr3 (“plain” hEX), it has same CPU as hEX S but no SFP port … and should be slightly cheaper. Performance is the same as hEX S, so hAP ac² is still the winner.
No luck involved here.
As surprising as it is.
Regular config: NAT, firewall, fasttrack (obviously).
Even tested the case when WAN connection is L2TP couple of days ago - still good results (800/700mbit).
As I have 300/800 + 600/600 as my Internet connection, I even tried to add something parallel to speedtest, to see if I can push it up to the full gigabit, but no luck there.
So I guess that’s actually as much as it can do.
I meant up the product line.
Starting from hAP ac2 and then to more powerful/expensive models.
hAP ac2 will be ok for 1Gbit as long as traffic can be fasttracked (for example with the default config).
If you need load balancing, queues, or IPSec faster then ~250Mbit/sec, then you should look for higher models - RB4011, CCR1009, CCR2004

These 3 are not my league. I need it for home and small office use. I have 1Gb connection and want to fully use it. My 951 can’t stand more than 300-350, that’s why i look for a model that will do.
So, I buy this hAP ac2 and leave feedback after configuring. Thanks a lot!
