a interesting comparison between Groove and Bullet...

Groove sure looks sturdy…

MAC address location on the Bullet is more convenient

WHY does the groove NOT have PWR light? It only has link and wireless lights…

I was wondering why when I first powered it up, the lights came on then all went off… I thought the thing died until I realized there is no power LED

you have settings in RouterOS where you can define the behaviour of the LED’s.

please have a look at that.

It is powered by PoE. If there is no link - there is no power  So this LED has both functions.

There should be

-PWR light
-Link light (ethernet)
-Signal lights

Just like the UBNT products have. Just helps when troubleshooting if your at a customers house, and you can see PWR light, but no Ethernet Link, etc…

Like I said, there can be no such situation where you have Power, but no Ethernet, and vice versa.

Power light or not. When picking between the 2 there is only one clear choice. Groove!

Thanks for the suggestions and examples! We will think if we can add it to next products.

how much costs one LED ??
1 cent?

There is also other things to be considered. Place on PCB, hole in the case etc.

I see both sides of this.

When we are connecting a new customer, checking for signal and location, we don’t have anything connected to the other end of the cable, POE adapter and no computer, so we don’t have a link light.

My installer could be standing on a roof waiting on a CPE to connect to a tower and never know that the cable was damaged, the RJ45 didn’t click just right, etc…

Nope
AP with sector antenna is on Site B, Site A and Site C connected to Site B over wireless, and can’t see each other, so Site B is sort of relay.
In this case ethernet cable used purely just for power, there is no switch even.

Of course you can, you can power it up with POE, and simply not have Ethernet link between POE and switch or device. POE only powers up the bullet with 2 wires, the rest of the actual “Ethernet 100Mbps” link can be off/on.

Also instances in which you could have a bad fitting on the ethernet or the data pairs in the ethernet could be damaged.
