I have a metal 2 acting as an Access Point, with several different kinds of radios as CPE’s. The last couple of days, the metal has stopped responding on the WAN side. But if you check in the CPE and in the Metal, the connection is still there, just no traffic. If you reboot the Metal, the connection comes right back. The traffic does not dribble off, it just stops. The ping time is high, upto 3.5 seconds. It is normally around 1 ms. If you let it go, after a time it will come back, and when it does, it is right away, it does not start coming back and build, it is just full bandwidth. Channels have been changed, the Metal has been rebooted. It is something to do with the Metal because ALL the CPE’s connected to it are affected almost to the second. Does anyone have any idea’s?
I would netinstall it to reformat everything. Then, do a scan of the wifi in the area, is there significant interference?
It is actually fairly quiet. A few hughes net routers, a cannon printer, and the occasional samsung phone, but the noise level is around -105db. The real kicker is, that about 2 hours after posting this, it stopped doing it. Now I am really confused.
I was once tracking down a 2.4Ghz network issues. Every Sunday it would have issues from 9 to noon. During that period of time, and only so, a cordless mic system was turned on and greatly interfered with Wifi. The solution? Switch to 5Ghz!
This is random. I h ave set the watchdog to reboot if it looses communication with one of the CPE’s. Sometimes it is good for 12 hrs, others abut 1 hr.
