A story to tell about troubleshoting PPPoE and DNS

I came to customer who has two ISPs. Mikrotik RB connected to both…but no loadblancing is needed. Manual failover is required. One of ISPs use PPPoE connectivity method.
The problem was each time mikrotik restarts or connection lost, we have to wait around 5 to 10 minutes to retain connection…
the log section in mikrotik showed that pppoe client was not able to get dns ip from isp…
so i got dns ip manually from them, or from mikrotik after successful connection…and then i configured pppoe client not to get default route and dns automatically.
with this conf, mikrotik was able to connect in less than 2 seconds.

Hope this will help you Pros…
Note: when you have a problem, always open your log and watch it carefully.
