I’m trailing a WDS setup at the mo and tring to figure out if i have it running right,
I have 2 12dbi Omni’s running in 2.452ghz with Nstream turned on, WDS is set to dymanic with no default bridge, The AP’s can see each other at about -75
From my understanding i should then see new WDS interface created on the interface list for both routers, i dont see any new interfaces.
Ok thanks for that, i’ve got that hang of it i think but this is what i’m tring to do
I have 4 AP’s all MT that have overlapping Coverage - i want to be able to have my standard laptop roam around in this coverage and connect from AP to AP.
Am i understanding WDS correctly? will it allow me to do this?
If you have set “default-authentication=no” you need to add remote wds-mac in “connect-list”.
New dynamic interface should appear under “/interface” and “/interface wireless wds”
Also “ssid” and “Frequency” must be the same both Access Point.
Have you check possibility to use in second router mode “wds-slave”?
wds-slave - the interface is working as it would work in ap-bridge mode, but it adapts to its WDS peer’s frequency if it is changed
Router 1
Ap Station
WDS = Dynamic
WDS Default Bridge= WDS-BR
Eoip Tunnel Across 5.8ghz backhaul to Router 2
Router 2
WDS Slave
WDS = Dynamic
WDS Default Bridge= WDS-BR
Eoip Tunnel Across 5.8ghz backhaul to Router 1
Eoip tunnel is in the bridge on both routers from here do i setup my dhcp server on router1 with its interface on the WDS-BR or what, i’m unsure on how to proceed at this point
FYI: the WDS connects at a 70/71 signal with SNR of 26
Look like WDS link is UP.
If you want to make it as transparent bridge then you need to add WDS interface in Local bridge and not to make new for them.
Or If you want to provide roming through wireless then you need add into bridge wireless interface. ( in your case Omni1 and Omni0 ).
