Hi everyone…i have these strange problems…i used to have a Mikrotik outdoor radio with routerboard 112 using an omni-directional antenna, with which i used to connect 7 clients. At first i couldn’t get signal from a client side who is 1km away from the base station…but i figured out that i was using
the 2.4ghz-b/g mode which was not amplified, so i switched over to the 2.4ghz-b card which was amplified to 1w and signal got better.
At some point i couldn’t ping the radio, and even if i used Winbox or neighbourhood viewer, i couldn’d see the mac address of the radio. So i changed the board to a new one…and the same problem still persists. What could be the possible cause(s)??
Secondly, i bought another Mikrotik radio with the same specifications. After putting in all the configurations, i mounted it on the mast, and behold, only two of the 7clients i have were able to connect!!!..Among this unconnected clients, 4 are less than 6metres from the base station(2 of them use a usb wireless indoor radio, the other a 65mw outdoor radio(with integrated antenna), and the remaining one is 1km far and uses a 400mw outdoor radio with grid antenna. what could be te cause of this? could it be an amplifier problem??? will be very grateful if i get a reply.
