Access serial port via sms script

I’m about to embark on getting PIC micro-controller to communicate with rb4xx via sms package (the idea is to emulate SMS phone and put RS232 input and output into sms message for bi-directional communication - turn the relay on/off, read AD value etc). Before I do it I thought I better ask:

  1. Is there a reason why Mikrotik does not want us to communicate with serial port through script?
  2. Will ROS 4.x support direct serial communication via script?
