Accesspoint Script

Hi i want to configure 3 access points (MikroTik hap ac Lite) in my house i want all of them to have the same ssid and password on both bands 2.4G and 5G. each of them will be connected back to my main router (zte) with cable that has the address of 192.168.1.1 and will be the gateway to internet.
Can someone make a script to make this easy for me since im super new to mikrotik products but i heard that are super stable!
Thanks in Advance!

The quick answer is no. There are enough examples on the forum to research prior to asking to be spoon fed. ( check out wifi forum especially )
If the plan was to do no work, then TPStink or NutGear are better options for you.

Also you do have resources…

So you know how to it and save me time and spread the knowledge, but you wont help, flawless logic..
Next time you go a professional like an electrician or doctror i hope they answer you the same way..
Sure sir i know how to make your health better but i wont, try read a book about medicines..
Hahahhahahahhaahahaahha what a guy you are !!

Don’t you think that you want to take a short path? Very short path.
There’s a big difference between helping someone who is trying and doing everything for them.

I never stated I was a professional, in fact I have no IT training and no MT training so dont worry you are not missing out on stellar answers!
I just tend to help people who make an effort, not spoiled lazy posters.

And you do it well, for a lot of people!

Too bad ghk84 lost out.

I wonder where you can find a group of electricians waiting to be used by someone who buys a pile of electrical stuff (no resarch as it is the best brand on the market as the seller said) and says: “I’m a beginer, so make for me the whole project of electrical network and send someone to assembly it”. On the other hand, if you find such a volunteers, you can ask them for a review: “I’ve made myself a small home electrical network but I’m not sure if it’s correct&safe so >>can you check it and suggest what could be improved?<<” Do you see the difference? Is it then fair user to user / neighbour to neighbour / friend to friend kind of help?

@Josephny
The best comment for you is a quote from http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/3-isps-load-balancing-need-help/173772/53 on advanced 3xISP solution. Solution that falls into an expert payable territories but is expected for free:

“good evening please can i have the complete script because it is like my head will explode”

It’s a pure GFFWNI (Get For Free With No Involvment) strategy assuming that some just wait to sacrifice their free time. It’s somehow strangely become “politically inproper” that these involved volunteers express that exaggerated GFFWNI does not match their will to help but it is accepted that they can be scold for that as others could get into a bad mood because of that kind of complains/expectations.

This is going to be interesting…

Especially for you Quickset exists.
Do it 3 times.

LOL.

I do know (and I suspect lots of know) what it feels like to when technology is not cooperating – exploding head is probably a reasonable description.

I found Mikrotik by accident. I took a little time to see what the fuss was all about and discovered that, in short, MT makes powerful, reliable, and extremely flexible devices at good prices. But, the downside is that there is a steep learning curve.

I have often wondered why someone doesn’t make a GUI (similar to Ubiquity’s Unifi management) with extremely limited controls so that the TPlink/Ubiquity/Netgear customers could skip the learning curve? Basically, a Windows .exe that sets ether1 as DHCP-client, sets up a bridge with all other etherports, DHCP-server on bridge, allows user to set SSID and bandwidth on 2.4 and 5ghz, and that’s it. Hard code (or put in a secret “advanced” config section) to change NTP client settings, etc. Similar to Quickset, but more robust and with no indication that there is a whole other world of Winbox/CLI.

I understand it would change the nature of the products, the customers, and, therefore, the company – and not necessarily for the better.

But, back to the topic at hand: People come to forums not understanding the underlying expectations of them. In this case, the main expectation of the generous experts here who help is that they feel that they are giving good quality help in the form of education/enlightenment, and not just doing someone’s work (for no pay). Does this ring true for everyone?

There is such a simplified tool. Have you checked existence of Quickset as Holvoetn pointed?

Yes, I am aware of Quickset.

  1. It is not simple enough: It is not a pretty .exe with very few choices or decisions for the user to make
  2. There are no fewer than 1,000,000 instances of people here saying “don’t use quickset”

I’m thinking:

https://kb.netgear.com/23784/I-m-setting-up-my-NETGEAR-router-for-the-first-time-how-do-I-set-it-to-Access-Point-AP-mode

99% of the people I know (educated, considerate, thoughtful, highly skilled at various things) would struggle with a TPlink/Netgear setup (and would refuse to do it themselves) because of the difficulty.

Of the 1% of the people that would tackle a TPlink/Netgear access point setup, 1/100 of 1% would consider getting an MT device setup.

We might not like that, or think it’s silly or stupid on their part, but time for most people is scarce and the cognitive effort required to even use Quickset is too much.

And yet, just about everyone wants/needs Internet access.

It’s simple: BE INVOLVED.
Don’t wait for it to be done, go ahead with the light of knowledge to enlighten others

Take Quickset in current state and prepare simple step by step instruction. You know what ware problems for you so put an excamaition marks at these steps and describe pros & cons. It’s perfect time to put new topics in: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewforum.php?f=23

I don’t have the expertise, otherwise, I would be very happy indeed to ‘give back.’

And my point is that no amount of step-by-step instructions of any sort will come close to a pretty GUI with only a small number of large buttons.

I think Quickset should be simplified (even more than it is now). Something like this:

Even better, the default config should be this. That way, just about anyone who can follow 3 or 4 steps (screw in antennas, connect cable from port 1 to existing modem or router, connect cable from computer to any other port, plug in MT device), can get up and running.

Then, a more advanced user can go in and issue a simple command to choose another config – perhaps a choice between (1) the default config I just described, (2) the default config that now ships with the devices, and (3) no config.

It does not matter if you are an expert, professional or unknown typical unskilled Joe/Jane Doe. Do you think that the best recipes for tasty home food come from 3-star awarded Michelin Ninja skilled Chefs or just from Mums sharing the knowledge with others?
