How does the user-manager treat accounting data? Is it purged after a certain time, can we configure that time, can we manually delete acct data older than X, …?

Regarding accounting update, try using Interem Update on your RADIUS settings. This will tell the MT how often to update the accounting settings. Why would you want to delete the accounting data after a certain time? Are you tinking in terms of clearing the usage after the end of that month?
Perhaps this is a solution for you: When looking at the usage log, everything is displayed per session with a date. I think it would be a good idea if UM can sort traffic by Time-Period per user (a month eg) or GB’s used etc.
