I’m running 3 hotpots from one RB. User Manager runs on that same RB. I’m getting constant ‘accounting request not send: no response’ messages in the log? Why does this happen? The RB is not very busy, only 6 users on it?
I would check the timeout value on the radius setting. I usually increase it to 3000mS. Although that is usually to compensate for the potential for a VPN to be slow. But by increasing the timeout value, at least you’ll be able to give the usermanager radius server more time to respond.
Running usermanager and hotspot on the same RB is not recommended by Mikrotik. Hasn’t stopped me doing it though! So I can vouch for the fact it works for light usage.
Thanks for the reply. At the end of the day my MikroTik ROS license did not allow the number of active sessions that were running in user manager. Think the max is 20 and there were 40 odd sessions open. Don’t know how this happened because there are less tan 10 users on the hot spot? Anyway, I just deleted all the sessions and the relevant ones were recreated. Problem solved.
If you are getting sessions showing as active on Usermanager, when the user is not really active, then you need to check your user profile timeout settings. Otherwise this problem will return!
Settings to check are “idle-timeout”, “keepalive-timeout” and “session-timeout”. By default they are set to “0” or blank which equates to ‘never’ / ‘none’.
