yes for god sakes. how difficult could it be? Even the linux version doesn’t work…
I agree! Last week I tried to netinstall on my Linux system, could not get it to work.
Only after I dug out the old Windows XP laptop and used that, it occurred to me that it likely was using the wrong interface…
(my LAN is on the second interface listed in ifconfig, the first one is used as a trace port connected to a mirror port on the router)
Or at least just pick the interface that ALREADY HAS an IP in the range of the one provided. The interface selection behavior is just down right stupid as is the lack of ability to change. It’s not 1995 anymore, computers often have more than 1 interface.
That, and of course it is quite likely that someone with a computer connected to a LAN and wanting to netinstall some device could get the idea to connect a USB ethernet adapter and plug that in only for this task. Easier to connect it to the device, and no loss of network connectivity.
But that would not work because there is no “-i interface” option.
