Hello
Short time reader, first time poster.
Bought my first hardware setup.
Besides plugging the R52n into the 411ar pci slot, what steps need to be taken to make it usable/accessible within winbox?
Thanks for your assistance.

Plug an antenna into it and enable/configure it in winbox. Once its plugged in, ROS will see it.
Thanks for replying.
Where will it identify itself in ROS? I have plugged it in but no indication of its communication with ROS. Although I have not inserted the antenna.
It should show up under /interface wireless print
Im assuming you didnt hot-plug it… ![]()
I will check that tonight. Forgive my newbness, but “hot plug”?
No hotplugging going on in this family.
The built in AR7130 on the 411 is there but not the r52n’s AR9220. Hmmmmm?
Still not getting a response from this r52n to the 411. Does the pci port need to be manually enabled? ![]()
Are you running a version of RouterOS 4 on the board?
Thats something I am working on as well. Bought the gear from Baltic Networks. Site indicated it will be a version 4 license but reviewing the system details I get 3.25 I have emailed them regarding this but no response yet.
Download 4.5mipsbe package, copy it to the router and reboot. It has a license for 4 or 5, but they come pre-installed with 3.25. No big deal.
You have a level 4 license, which is completely different from the version. If you are running 3.25 on your board, you can already update to 4.x without any extra costs or contacting your distributor.
No 802.11n card will work until you’ve upgraded to version 4. Procedures for upgrading the license are located in the wiki on the 802.11n setup guide page:
Thank-you guys for the info. I hope to get time to upgrade it tonight.
