Adding support for USB LTE modems

Hi, I have a USB ZTE MF667 LTE modem, that I would like to dial with through my Mikrotik router, but it seems that the RB 951Ui-2HnD I have does not have support for this particular router. To whom can I talk to to get support built-in for this modem?

What I have tried to get this working:
0. Have the latest ROS installed (6.36 stable)

  1. Have a look at the RouterOS - RouterOS - MikroTik Documentation list - this modem is not listed
  2. When plugged into the modem directly - Log files shows " unable to aquire Serial" - changing all to all available ports resulted in the same result.
  3. When running the "/port firmware set ignore-directip-modem=yes" command and doing a reboot / power cycle, I seem to get a connection to the modem on USB 4, but no access
  4. When doing a /system resource usb print the results are displayed as below:

DEVICE VENDOR NAME SPEED

0 1:1 Linux 3.3.5 ehci_hcd RB400 EHCI 480 Mbps
1 1:2 ZTE,Incorporated ZTE WCDMA Technolog... 480 Mbps

  1. The port print command displays the results are:

DEVICE NAME CHANNELS USED-BY BAUD-RATE

0 I usb1 0 9600
1 I usb2 0 9600
2 I usb3 0 9600
3 I usb4 2 9600

  1. When I so a /system serial-terminal usb4 channel=0 - no results are shown
  2. When I so a USB power cycle - it seems that the USB dongle is somewhat detected as a LTE option becomes available, but it goes down after a few seconds and stays that way.

Any help on getting this issue resolved or the modem on the supported list would be appreciated.

Have you tried a power cycle, with the modem in the USB port, that worked for me with a RB2011

You need to:

  • plug in the USB device
  • powercycle the modem (not reboot, powercycle)
  • generate a supout.rif file (see menu)
  • send it to support@mikrotik.com with a kind request to support it.
