Latest Version: 6.13
I had created a ‘Blacklist’ under ‘Firewall/Address Lists’.
Was doing bug-checking in my ‘Firewall/Filter’ Rules which involved turning Rules ‘on’ and ‘off’.
Subsequently, my ‘Blacklist’ now exists in name only; all entries within have vanished!!
I have also recently had both ‘Firewall/’ Filter and NAT Rules disappear.
As these ‘disappearances’ all centred around the ‘Firewall’ and have happened more than once since installing v6.13, my beliefs have progressed through four stages:
- It was my imagination.
- It was something I had done.
- What is going on?
- There are bugs afoot.
All ‘disappearances’ have (to the best of my knowledge) happened after various ‘Rules’ had been modified/enabled/disabled etc.
I have tried to recreate the dastardly events without success, which is a nuisance.
If anyone else has experienced similar ‘unrequested deletions’ please let me know.
Colin
Your blacklist are dynamically created, or you import one script?
Hi,
My ‘Blacklist’ was created manually, each entry with a default zero ‘Timeout’.
The ‘Name’ of the list is there, but the list is now empty.
The ‘Rule’ that uses (or used) the list is still there, as is the name of the list within the ‘Rule’.
I only noticed the list was gone when I realised I was ‘under attack’ again; I wrongly believed it was a new attack and I was about to check from where it came, but then realised the attack was from a source previously in my now empty list.

You go to 6.13 by update (6.x → 6.13), by upgrade (non-6.x → 6.13) or by netinstall?
If you use netinstall, is the 6.13 netinstall or previous version?
I suggest you to /export compact file=mybacup
save the file (do not use xxxx.backup or you export and later re-import the problem) outside the board
netinstall 6.13 and install routeros-xxxx.6.13.npk only on the device (without keep previous configuration),
after that, upgrade on system/routerboard the firmware [BIOS] to last 3.1x
after reboot, re-imprt sction-by-section (for see if you get some errors) the backup previous made
Hi,
~~ Your English is far better than my Italian ~~
I did a manual upgrade from v6.12, I did not use netinstall.
My ‘Current Firmware’ is blank; I see that is an old issue which has been reported before.
I will upgrade the BIOS to v3.10 as you suggest.
I see from the RouterBOOT ChangeLog: ar934x: fix RAM configuration for better stability; I guess this may account for my ‘disappearances’.
Because this may be a BIOS issue, I will post again on this thread, only if I encounter the same problems.
Many thanks and have a good weekend.
Colin
** Further Information **
I haven’t yet updated the BIOS.
The ‘Blacklist’ which disappeared yesterday has re-appeared.
The replacement ‘Blacklist’ I had entered (with the same name of ‘Blacklist’) is now gone.
Would this still be indicative of a BIOS rather than programming issue?
Colin
I think the problem are on bad update, cause the user setting corruption,
try what I have previous writed
I used netinstall which reported success.
I pressed the ‘Reboot’ button and there’s activity and flashing lights but no ‘two-beep’ and no reboot.
Prior to using netinstall I set the RB450G to boot from the network.
I followed the instructions at: wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall
I don’t have a serial cable to hand, but was unconcerned as I followed the section ‘4.3.1 Configuring RouterBOARD without COM port’
Unfortunately at the end of the instructions, it casually tells me to ‘Reset the BIOS Configuration of the RouterBoard to boot from its own memory’ using a serial cable.
Is there another way to set the RB450G to revert back to booting from ‘its own memory’?
Colin
use one screwdriver to use internal reset contact for reset bios settings, on default first try to nand, then from ethernet.
Hi,
I did the reset as described using a screwdriver: success!!
There was a beep a little light in the middle of the board went on and off, all the ports flashed, and the reboot followed.
I then reconfigured a few basic rules for PPoE, NAT etc.
After a few hours, I went to configure NTP and saw that it wasn’t installed, so along with a few other packages incl. Dude Server, I copied the .npk files across and rebooted.
The RB450G is now dead.
It didn’t reboot, in fact apart from the two side LED’s, I wouldn’t even know the power had been applied.
I took the case off again, used the same screwdriver on the same jumpers: this time there was no beep, the light in the middle of the board went on and off almost instantly as did the ports which only flashed for an fraction of a second.
I have tried and retried, and nothing.
What do I do next?
Try again netinstall method…
BUT DO NOT INSTALL OLD DUDE PACKAGE…
I had already tried using netinstall, but the RB450G now isn’t even recognised as a device.
** Further Information **
I left the RB450G without power for twenty-four hours.
I tried the ROS Reset again, it still didn’t work.
I tried the BIOS Reset and there was life: I was able to use netinstall which reported success.
Hopes built high, I pressed the netinstall ‘Reboot’ button, but there was no reboot.
I have tried the BIOS Reset several times and it is ‘hit & miss’ whether my screwdriver does the job; this results in multiple plugging & unplugging of the power, which (from copious other posts) seems likely to kill a RouterBoard anyway.
What next?
