When can we see some ADSL PCI card support for some of the more standard PCI ADSL chipsets ?, got loads of ideas to use ROUTEROS on client sites but they want the devices to support ADSL directly in the box. And not use ADSL to ethernet bridges.
problem with the pci adsl cards is they are all closed property.
the only linux drivers availeble are binairy…
i would like 2 see support for adsl modem cards with the itex chip…
but until the go opensource … NEVER… i don’t think we’ll see support for them.
Even on linux distro’s you don’t see mutch support for adsl PCI modems.
it would thou be verry cool to have a adsl modem in there…
here in belgium… you have different types of adsl profiles.
you have dailup adsl with pppoe …
but all the professional products don’t use pppoe. they are just configd RFC1483 routed with the ip directly on the eatm pvc. So at the moment if i want to deploy a mikrotik firewall i always have a cisco 827 of 826 before the mikrotik. if i could have a adsl PCI card i could do this directly on the MT… this woudl be great.. and bring down the cost for the customer… but still i’m hoping … but don’t think it will arrive soon…

I have the same problem, actually we are connecting 1 of the 2 gateway of the MK to an ADSL, diverting p2p traffic there, but the router got stack very often.
Do you know any adsl-modem that supports wothout problems 20/25 users with emule ?

i had the same problem with a lot of adsl modems.
the ones i found to work
dlink 300+
copperjet 822
all other i tested don’t
tested
dlink 100 & 500
all aztech modems
all flowpoint routers
all alcatel modems
i found that these modems don’t allow that mutch connections and do a bufferoverflow
i think these modems work because they use there internal memory as a buffer and both have 8Mb
