Hey guys - need your expert advice
Not sure if this was better in the hardware topic, but I feel this could be of general interest.
I’m about to move into a new house and in the beginning there’s no ethernet wiring anywhere. I will need wired clients in 3 locations in this house; 1 centrally on the ground floor where the Internet router, a NAS and small servers will live. And 2 other places for other devices (ground floor and 1st floor)
I was thinking about investing in 3 Audience devices to use the third 4x4 5Ghz radio to build a pure wireless mesh “backhaul” network and then use the other 5Ghz radio as well as the 2.4Ghz radio together with the two ethernet ports (perhaps adding a small switch) for both wired and wireless clients in all 3 locations.
I have other devices taking care of firewall, DHCP, etc. So I was looking to build an infrastructure setup until I can get time to run ethernet cables in the new house. By then I would re-purpose the Audience devices to utilize the wired inter-connectivity and become a more “pure” AP with all three radios used for clients.
This is way overkill for wireless coverage, but I want the fastest possible links between the three locations where the wired clients will be connected, until I get the wired network in place.
Any comments or guidance on this project is highly appreciated
