I am about to expand my network to bring in more backhaul via a wireless link and also setup a 900Mhz AP.
I’m planning on using on the tower a RB532/564 with 3- R52s and a UBSR9 for the AP. 2 of the R52s will be PtP backhaul, one R52 a dedicated PtP to a single customer using 20% of the backhaul.
Clients of the AP will be RB133cs with SR9s.
Does this sound workable to you folks, or am I a victim of faulty thinking?
The rest of the network serving 100+ clients uses a mix of older BreezeComs and new Deliberants and functions amazingly well.
Any responses would be much appreciated.
well if im not wrong you are planning to give service to 100+ ppl over one ap !?
Umm.. no because Breezecom has to use their own AP’s…
Right- the existing network consists of 8 AP’s - 7 BreezeCom AP 10Ds and 1 Deliberant 2701.
I would assume that the MT 532/ SR9 AP would only connect another 30-40, perhaps more since the CPE will be RB 133c’s with an SR9.
Are you located in the US? You’ll definately want to take the time to do some spectrum analysis before you deploy. I actually use a Motorola Canopy SM which you can get for around $300US on ebay and a yagi antenna for my spectrum analysis - they have an awesome spectrum analyzer built in. I always do that before deploying my MT/SR9 AP’s.
It sounds like you’re looking at using an omni antenna - you’ll definately want to use a HPOL antenna (pacwireless makes one that can be had for around $600US) The only exception to this rule is if there is another ISP using some type of 900mhz FHSS equipment such as Alvarion. We also have problems here with the county government using 900mhz Alvarion. This is where the spectrum anaylsis will come in handy. If someone else in your area is using 900mhz you’ll want to use the opposite polorization as they.
If you want to screw with them and not play nicely run your SR9 in 802.11b mode which takes the entire 20mhz spectrum up. We have a situation where another WISP did not want to share channel space and now that I’m running in b mode it completely puts their alvarion gear offline because of noise.
