Hi,

I’m planning the following MT 5.x GHz link. On both sides I would like to use: Routerboard 230, 2 mPCI Atheros AR5213, 29 dBi dual polarized dish antenna 5725-5850 (horizontal and vertical in one 60 cm dish), short coax. LOS available, distance approx. 4/5 Km.

I would like to know what would be the best MT configuration/setup? nstreme/dual nstreme?, frequencies? All tips/info would be great!

Thanks!

Roger

Well, with the equipment you will use, and considering situation you should just setup MT
Do not use nstreme, and try all frequencies following bandwidth test (don’t mind signal strenght following frequency change, because the bandwidth is what you’ll need).
Also, avoid bridging, and do routing. This is a common mistake when you want to put 2 AP’s with dedicated links!

Example:

AP1: (probably with ethernet connected to internet)

ether1: (w.w.w.w/w)
wlan1: Ap-bridge (x.x.x.x/x) band=2.4ghz-b
wlan2: bridge (z.z.z.z/z) band=5ghz

AP2:

wlan1: Ap-bridge (y.y.y.y/y) band=2.4ghz-b
wlan2: station (z.z.z.z/z) band=5ghz (where the station is connected to bridge on AP1.)

Need more help, don’t hesitate…

Cheers…
