Hello,
i have a problem with airplay not working.
The setup is wan —> RB1100AHx2 (10.0.0.1) (here is the reciever xbmc, audioplayer) -(LAN)->(10.0.0.2) rb951g-2hnd (172.16.0.1)-(WIFI)> iphone and other clients
I have multicast enabled on both routers. On the iphone i can not see the xbmc or audioplayer as a airplay receivers but can connect to them with ip.
Interfaces need to be bridged.
Airplay works on broadcasts. Get things into one subnet and after a reboot of apple devices… they often start working.
I have all interfaces bridged on both modems but the thing still won’t work.
All the devices need to be in the same network.
Are they all in the 172.16.0.0/24 network?
Ok, so this is the only solution?
No, some are in 10.0.0.0/24 and some are in 172.16.0.0/24.
Ok. So what is the best practise to have both routers use the same subnet?
Run two dhcp servers, one on each of them? On the first let say (10.0.0.2-10.0.0.30) and on the other router (10.0.0.40-10.0.0.50)?
Or just run one dhcp server and then make a relay from the other one?
Use CapsMan and make the 951 an AP.
If it works… don’t forget Karma
