Aligning Wireless

I’ve had some issues getting alignment with some antenna’s. I was just wondering what do most people do for antenna Alignment with the Dual Polarity antenna’s.

I had 4x 30dB Dual Polarity 5.8’s. 2 on each end, obviously being a 30db the beamwidths were 4 and 6 degree respectively.

The link was only tiny being just short of 2km, but at that distance i should still be able to get them linked up sweet.

Any tips for a novice?

At this distance, “eyeballing” the link should be more than sufficient. Otherwise, try this nifty tool by marks-mkt http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/yet-another-wireless-alignment-script-with-leds-and-beeps/26394/1

That’d be great if the 435g’s weren’t 25m away from the antenna’s

But that’s awesome, my wireless signal strength script that I have used wasn’t nearly as good as that one, Bookmarked for sure.

There was a utility I found on here that mapped wireless signal over google maps, Creates coverage maps, It was beta and he was going to charge for it eventually. But it was pretty great.

But for calcing out links I could only find this one
www.ligowave.com/linkcalc/

Thanks for that. Great Script
